Internal Slack messages from over 6,400 Amazon employee beta testers show Alexa+ caused devices and routines to malfunction during testing. Testers reported commands that turned off entire power strips, disabling aquarium filters and killing fish, assistants that talked non-stop and ignored stop commands, and playing devices at full volume when no one was home. Alexa+ rollout has been delayed for years and remains available only to users who request access or who have newer devices. New features include a conversational speech mode and a browser-based AI assistant introduced in December. Amazon says millions have access and the "overwhelming majority" of feedback has been positive.
