"Given that a Prime membership costs less ($15 per month) than Alexa+ on its own, Amazon is no doubt hoping that the introduction of its now more conversational Alexa assistant will entice some would-be subscribers. Amazon also offers a 30-day free trial of Prime to first-time customers. As well as allowing more complex and naturally flowing interactions, Alexa+ also has new agentic capabilities, making it more effective at managing your schedule, providing recommendations, making reservations and controlling your smart home devices."
Alexa+ is available in the US for $20 per month as a standalone subscription and is offered at no additional charge to Prime members. A free, text-based chat tier is available for non-Prime users with usage limits. Alexa+ emerged from early access and incorporates user feedback prior to nationwide rollout. The assistant supports more natural, multi-turn conversations and adds agentic features to manage schedules, make recommendations and reservations, and control smart home devices. Alexa+ personalizes responses by monitoring digital activity to provide more useful answers. Some users have praised its capabilities but also reported inconsistent, frustrating performance.
