Street Feast is scheduled for May 23 and 24 nationwide, aiming to encourage up to 1,200 neighbourhood gatherings and strengthen community connections. Wicklow and District Lions will instead hold their local Street Feast on Saturday, May 30 to make room for the arrival of Jordan and Cian Adams, known as the FTD Brothers. The brothers are departing from the Black Castle in Wicklow town as part of a campaign to raise awareness and funds for dementia support and research, with local groups asked to welcome them. Wicklow Lions will meet at the back of Wicklow Gaol at 11.30am to clean the area, then share food from 1pm. The club recently held a golf classic at Blainroe Golf Club, raising funds for Wicklow Hospice, with prizes and a raffle afterward.
"Now in its 16th year, Street Feast returns on the weekend of May 23 and 24, and hopes to see up to 1,200 neighbourhood gatherings spring up around the country, helping people to feel more connected with their community."
"However, Wicklow and District Lions, the main organisers of Street Feast in Wicklow town, have decided to host the event on Saturday, May 30 instead, to free up this weekend for the arrival of Jordan and Cian Adams, known as the FTD Brothers, who aim to complete 32 marathons in 32 counties over 32 days."
""The brothers are departing from the Black Castle in Wicklow town as part of their campaign to raise awareness and funds for dementia support and research, and there was a call for local groups to come out and give them a warm welcome, so we will be holding Street Feast on Saturday, May 30, instead," said Wicklow Lions member Sean Olohan."
""It's always a lovely occasion where we are joined by members of the community, as well as members of Wicklow RNLI and Wicklow Tidy Towns. We meet at the back of Wicklow Gaol from 11.30am and clean up the whole area, and then we will be sharing food as part of Street Feast from 1pm.""
