Saratoga High students donate their time, talent during summer vacation
Briefly

Students from the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District volunteered with nonprofits this summer. They crocheted wigs for cancer patients through the Magic Yarn Project and baked lasagnas for young adults leaving the foster care system via Lasagna Love. District Superintendent Heath Rocha commended the students for their compassion and commitment to service. Separately, the Prince of Peace farmers market opened on July 2, featuring organic produce and handmade goods, operating every Wednesday from 2-6 p.m.
Our students continue to inspire us with their compassion and commitment to others. These service projects reflect the heart of our district: students who lead with kindness, empathy and a desire to make their community stronger.
Students gathered during lunch breaks to crochet wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment as part of the Magic Yarn Project. The finished wigs will be donated to Stanford Children's Hospital.
Some students also baked 20 lasagnas for young adults aging out of the foster care system. It was done through Lasagna Love, a global grassroots nonprofit that brings together volunteer chefs and families in need with homemade meals.
The Prince of Peace farmers market opened on July 2 with organic fruits and vegetables, woodcraft, fresh bread and face painting, operating every Wednesday from 2-6 p.m.
