Physio backs charity that helped her after accident
"Ms Boobier was supported by Day One Trauma Support, which said it helped 2,400 people last year, with demand still increasing. Day One Trauma Ms Boobier now works as a physiotherapist with people who have had amputations at Charing Cross Hospital in London. She said she had recommended Day One to her patients in Reading but took advantage of its help after the accident."
""They offered kindness, compassion, and practical help when we needed it most," she added. "I know many people leave hospital with life-changing injuries and no support system. That's where Day One really makes a difference, giving people guidance, connection and someone who understands what that early stage of recovery feels like.""
""We're so grateful to Chloe and her family for sharing their story with us. "With trauma wards especially busy at Christmas and demand for our support up by 40%, more people impacted by life-changing injuries need our help. If you're able to donate to our Christmas appeal, you'll ensure they get the specialist support they urgently need.""
An NHS physiotherapist suffered a broken spine, pelvis and shoulder after being hit by a taxi minutes after leaving work and received support from Day One Trauma Support. She spent weeks on the hospital's trauma and orthopaedic ward and relied on charity help during recovery. Day One Trauma Support helped 2,400 people last year and reports rising demand. The physiotherapist now works with amputee patients at Charing Cross Hospital and has recommended Day One to others. The charity aims to raise A330,000 as part of a Christmas appeal to fund specialist support for people with life-changing injuries.
