Since 2018, over £18 million has been raised for grassroots sports in the UK via a partnership between Crowdfunder and Sport England. This funding approach, which includes matched crowdfunding, has enabled more than 1,000 community-led initiatives to thrive. Key figures from both organizations recently celebrated this achievement at a House of Commons event, highlighting not just the financial success but also the power of community engagement in transforming lives and promoting access to sports amid growing economic challenges.
"This event is a real celebration of two things: the power of sport and the power of community to transform lives," said Dawn Bebe, Co-CEO of Crowdfunder.
"Lottery tickets are not on the increase," he said. "That's why every penny counts. Community-driven, match-funded initiatives like this are vital for the future of sport in this country."
"Despite economic pressures, crowdfunding continues to unlock opportunities for better health, stronger communities and increased participation," she said.
