Nonprofit shows NICU families that 'Today is A Good Day'
""Started with care packages. Added vital needs support funding where we help families with food and fuel, transportation to and from the hospital. We then created a podcast...currently serve families in 23 hospitals...primarily located here in the tri state region.""
""The reason we are where we are today is because of the community that we've been able to build of not only NICU families, but so many volunteers... who have come together who believe so strongly in this mission...really humbling to both my husband and myself.""
""I can't imagine care in the NICU without 'Today Is A Good Day.' Their journey in the NICU turned to something that was really inspiring for not only the people that take care of babies here, but also other families.""
Today is a Good Day, founded by Martha and Paul Sharkey, supports families with children in the NICU. The nonprofit began after the Sharkey family experienced the loss of one twin during pregnancy. Since its formation in 2014, the organization has provided care packages and essential support, including food and transportation. They currently serve families in 23 hospitals, primarily in the tri-state area. The community built around this mission has been vital to its success, as expressed by both the Sharkeys and healthcare professionals.
