Mountain View foundation awards $2.4 million in Community Action Grants
Briefly

Casa Circulo Cultural, based in Redwood City, is one of 96 organizations that received Community Action Grants from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which is distributing $2.4 million to local nonprofits in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. These funds support groups working with historically marginalized communities. Casa Circulo aims to build community through culturally relevant arts, enhancing family support while redefining cultural leadership. The foundation emphasizes the importance of these grantees as catalysts for change, addressing various local issues from arts to health services, typically with grant sizes averaging $21,000.
"The Community Action Grants program grantees don't just provide services; they're catalysts for positive change, led by and accountable to the communities they serve," foundation president and CEO Nicole Taylor said in a release.
Casa Circulo not only serves the needs of families but also works to shift who creates, leads and defines culture in its service area.
