Tony Hawk's skateboard used to land the unprecedented 900 in competition sold for $1.152 million at a Los Angeles auction conducted by Julien's Auctions. The final price was approximately double the presale estimate, and Hawk attended the auction while online bids were accepted; the buyer was not disclosed. Hawk expressed hope that the buyer would appreciate the board or display it publicly. Other 900-related items sold included Hawk's helmet for $115,200, sneakers for $64,000 and knee pads for $57,600. Proceeds will go to The Skatepark Project to build skate parks in underserved areas. Hawk landed the 900 at the 1999 X Games.
