Funding boost delivers new sports amenities across Clare

Clare County Council secured €120,000 through the Participation Nation Outdoor Fund via the Clare Local Sports Partnership to encourage physical activity for people of all ages and abilities. The funding supports five facilities across Clare. Scariff received an accessible kayak and canoe launch system. Ballyvaughan gained an outdoor gym facility. Kilrush installed basketball hoops, goals, and portable tennis nets in a new 2G multi-use games area. Ennis received two petanque courts and two teqball tables at Tim Smythe Park, with sports lockers planned soon. Shannon received basketball and football net units and storage for kayak equipment.

"Significant funding has been provided for permanent sports infrastructure projects throughout Clare under the Participation Nation Outdoor Fund (PNOF). Secured by the Clare Local Sports Partnership, the €120,000 investment by Clare County Council (CCC) is aimed at encouraging physical activity among people of all ages and abilities. The funding will benefit five facilities in Clare."

"The investment has seen the provision of an accessible kayak and canoe launch system in Scariff, an outdoor gym facility in Ballyvaughan, and basketball hoops, goals and portable tennis nets set up in the new 2G multi-use games area (MUGA) facility in Kilrush."

"Elsewhere, two pétanque playing courts and two teqball playing tables have been installed at Tim Smythe Park in Ennis, with two sports lockers to be provided soon. Finally, Shannon has benefitted from the installation of basketball and football net units, as well as storage for kayak equipment."
