
A Wexford County Fleadh took place in Carrig-on-Bannow from Friday to Sunday, filling the hall and school with traditional music, song, and dance. Music echoed throughout the village, creating a strong atmosphere and drawing a large turnout. Eight of ten Wexford Comhaltas branches were represented in competition. Bannow C.C.É. welcomed musicians, singers, and dancers from across the county for Fleadh Charman, noting the area’s deep roots in traditional music and the 40th anniversary of the first County Fleadh held in the village. Volunteers and local committee members, supported by County Board officers, ensured the event’s success. Competitors placed in categories, with first and second, and in some cases third, qualifying for the Leinster Fleadh in Portlaoise in June. Bannow’s branch won the overall cup.
