Charmaine Gatlin, the former COO of Jackson Health Foundation, has been indicted on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Accused of embezzling nearly $4 million, Gatlin allegedly submitted fraudulent invoices for services that either never existed or were diverted to her relatives. Internal audits triggered an investigation, leading to allegations that she directed vendors to issue false invoices which resulted in substantial kickbacks, some of which she used for personal expenses, including luxury goods. After years in her position, she was terminated in late 2024 as evidence of financial misconduct surfaced.
Gatlin is accused of submitting false invoices to the foundation for nearly $4 million in goods and services that funded kickbacks to her and that were never given to the foundation.
The indictment alleges that Gatlin approved about $2 million in invoices to an audiovisual company based in Georgia for services that were not provided to Jackson Health Foundation.
Gatlin is also accused of falsifying invoices from a merchandise vendor who bought her gifts from designer brands Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Apple, at her request.
