Bastyr University Plans to Sell Campus
Briefly

Bastyr University is taking steps to stabilize its finances by selling its 50-acre campus in Washington State. The Board of Trustees approved the sale, which aims to restore the university’s financial health and support its strategic plan. Despite concerns, officials clarified that the university would not close and may lease the campus for a few years during the transition. Selling the campus is crucial as the university can no longer afford to maintain the facilities while occupying less than 50% of the space.
The sale of the [Washington] campus will restore financial health to our university, allow continued movement forward with our strategic plan and is intended to positively impact our accreditation status.
Financial infusion makes the university more stable and allows us to better weather the fluctuations of the academic environment should a crisis occur.
