Artists in Action: Supporting Salem-area artists for a quarter-century * Oregon ArtsWatch
""We wanted to be a support group for artists that weren't in a gallery and who needed opportunities to show and sell their work," Trevett said."
""Everyone, no matter artistic skill level or focus, is welcome to join. We support artists at all levels and pretty much all mediums," she said."
"As the organization expanded, so did the knowledge pool. Soon they had artists who worked in graphic design, website design, marketing, and public relations joining and helping build the organization, according to Trevett."
"AiA has grown into an established arts organization in Salem hosting monthly openings often with speakers, critique opportunities, open-call art shows at Elsinore Framing & Fine Art Gallery, and special events, such as Paint and Write the Town."
Artists in Action began 25 years ago as a small support group for struggling artists. It has since transformed into a nonprofit organization that fosters lifelong connections and networking opportunities. Founder Diane Trevett emphasized the mission to support artists lacking gallery representation. The organization has expanded its knowledge base by incorporating members with skills in graphic design, marketing, and public relations. AiA hosts various events, including monthly openings and art shows, welcoming artists of all skill levels and mediums.
