Anthony Rochford Memorial Golf Classic in New Ross raises more than 10,000 for charity
The fourth annual Anthony Rochford Memorial Golf Classic took place at New Ross Golf Club and raised more than €10,000. Proceeds will be shared between New Ross Meals on Wheels and the Irish Cancer Society, both recognized for supporting vulnerable individuals and families. Meals on Wheels provides nourishment, companionship, and dignity to people living alone. The Irish Cancer Society delivers critical support services and funds life-saving research nationwide. Around 50 teams competed for the Anthony Rochford Memorial Trophy. The event is organized by Anthony’s former teammates from Sydney Shamrocks GAA Club and continues to grow each year. The presentation included acknowledgements for the Kiely family in memory of Benny Kiely, and the winning team featured Benny’s son Jack Kiely.

Organisers highlighted how Meals on Wheels provides not just nourishment but also companionship and dignity to those living alone, while the Irish Cancer Society continues to deliver critical support services and fund life-saving research nationwide."
"Approximately 50 teams took part in the popular event, competing for the Anthony Rochford Memorial Trophy. The classic, organised by Anthony's former teammates from Sydney Shamrocks GAA Club, continues to grow each year. "The classic is going from strength to strength," said John Rochford. "Timeslots were booked out very early this year. We are delighted that the event in memory of Anthony is so well supported and that such worthwhile causes will benefit.""
"A particularly poignant moment at this year's presentation was the acknowledgement of the Kiely family, who participated in honour of the late Benny Kiely, a loyal supporter of the classic in previous years. Benny, remembered as a warm, generous and much-loved figure, was fondly recalled during the speeches, with heartfelt condolences extended to his family. In a touching tribute, the winning team on the day included Benny's son, Jack Kiely, alongside close friends Gerry Raher, Mark Raher and Matt Curran, which was an outcome that added a deeply personal and emotional note to the occasion."
