The Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund has awarded more than $22 million to 64 grantees to address disparities in cancer outcomes. The fund honors Stuart Scott's belief that everyone deserves a fair chance in the cancer fight and partners with the V Foundation, named for coach Jimmy Valvano. Annual fundraising events include the Jimmy V basketball classic and the Boo-Yah gala celebrating Stuart Scott. The program supports researchers from underrepresented backgrounds and funds research targeting racial disparities and cancer outcomes. This year, former NFL player and cancer survivor Randy Moss will receive the first Stuart Scott Impact Award for advocacy promoting early screening and equitable access to care. The fund aims to empower scientists by providing freedom, tools and confidence to pursue better options for patients and families.
