Animal sanctuary forced to close for 'urgent and unavoidable' repairs
Briefly

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Sawyers Lane has announced its temporary closure for urgent repair and maintenance works, prioritizing health and safety for visitors and animals. The sanctuary, which houses over 100 species on 53 acres, emphasized the challenges of balancing public access with essential repairs. Manager Lianne Angliss explained the difficulties faced, such as random tree falls, which necessitate securing the environment for both animals and guests. The sanctuary aims to resume operations once it can ensure safety and complete necessary work.
Due to urgent and unavoidable repair and maintenance works that need addressing immediately, we have had to take the regrettable decision to close the sanctuary to visitors until further notice.
Running a sanctuary for animals is hard in itself but running a visitor attraction as well is even harder and trying to put everything together is just too much at the moment.
