€12.6 million in capital investment has been announced for the redevelopment of Galway City Museum, delivered by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Galway City Council. The funding forms part of a larger €19.3 million project aimed at making the museum a landmark cultural attraction of national significance and a driver of regional economic growth. Over 10 years, the redevelopment is projected to attract an additional 820,000 domestic and overseas visitors, generating an extra €47.3 million in direct visitor spending. The project is expected to support 127 jobs annually across tourism and supporting sectors. The museum will be integrated with a new three-storey extension and Comerford House, with a new visitor journey connecting buildings and landscape, including elevated views from Spanish Arch.
