During the VE Day holiday weekend, French trains will operate at near normal levels, with SNCF head Jean-Pierre Farandou estimating around 90% of services available despite strike actions from several unions. After failed negotiations over pay and working conditions, these unions have planned strikes from May 5th to May 11th. Farandou assured travelers that there will be alternative trains available, particularly for TGV services, and emphasized that efforts are in place to prevent stranded passengers, with only a fraction of conductors participating in the strikes for budget services like OuiGo.
"This weekend, we'll be close to 90 percent of trains running," said SNCF boss Jean-Pierre Farandou, assuring travelers amidst ongoing strike actions.
"No one will be left stranded on the platform," Farandou added, emphasizing their commitment to ensure that all passengers have alternate trains available.
