French prosecutors are examining a shooting incident believed to be racially motivated, involving a man who shared racist videos online before attacking his Tunisian neighbor and injuring a Turkish citizen. The inquiry has shifted to national anti-terrorism prosecutors due to the blatant hate crime nature of the attack. The incident, part of a troubling trend of violence against minorities in France, reflects escalating concerns over racism, as highlighted by the anti-discrimination NGO SOS Racisme.
"The racist nature of this double crime is beyond doubt, given the hateful remarks made by the killer," said SOS Racisme, an anti-discrimination NGO.
The PNAT prosecutors said Monday that they had opened an investigation into a "terrorist plot" motivated by the race or religion of the victims.
