
"The Banking Fees Observatory (OTB) reports annually on changes in banking fees in France. According to its 2025 report, published on October 7th, "10 of the 14 main banking services show an increase," caused by a delayed reflection of the rise in consumer prices in recent years. The report studied 103 bank options in France - including online banks such as Revolut -which represent 99 percent of the market share. Overall, banking fees increased by 3.1 per cent between 2024 and 2025."

It depends on the bank you picked. These are called account maintenance fees. This year, they increased by an average of 8.95 per cent. As a result, on average, people will pay €21.78 to keep their account open compared to €19.99 in 2024."

Other charges include monthly debit card fees, withdrawal and deposit fees, and miscellaneous service charges. International payment card costs can increase up to 3%; immediate-debit international cards average €44.27 annually versus €42.99. All French banks charge fees; online banks often have lower or no fees but may lack cheque/cash deposit services and in-branch advisers.
