Two women suffocate on migrant boat off French coast seeking to reach UK
"We can't see the end of this story. No one has the real solutions. And it's tragic. These young people are trying to flee."
"The engine wouldn't start and the boat began to drift. They did not drown; they most likely died from suffocation, as unfortunately often happens."
"The two women suffered cardiac arrest, suggesting that they might have been crushed at the bottom of the boat when there are so many on board."
Two Sudanese women, aged around 20, suffocated while attempting to reach Britain in a small boat carrying 82 people. The boat, which set out from Neufchatel-Hardelot, faced engine failure and began to drift. Seventeen individuals were rescued, while the remaining 65 ran aground. The women were found dead inside the boat, likely due to suffocation. The mayor expressed sadness over the plight of migrants, highlighting the presence of pregnant women and children among them. This incident marks the third tragedy of its kind in just over a month.
