TotalEnergies refinery working full tilt to keep France fuelled
""We're on the hydrocracking unit, a conversion unit that will allow us to maximize the production of diesel and kerosene for road and aviation fuels," said Elise Thomazo."
""It won't exceed five percent, at best," said Thomazo, highlighting the limitations in increasing production due to existing infrastructure."
The TotalEnergies refinery, located at the mouth of the Seine, operates over 40,000 kilometers of pipes to produce diesel and kerosene. The hydrocracking unit maximizes production of these fuels, essential for road and aviation. The facility has historically focused on jet fuel and diesel, but the ongoing Middle East conflict has disrupted crude oil and refined product supplies. France only produces half of its diesel needs, and while production can be increased, it is limited to a maximum of five percent due to infrastructure constraints.
