Mistral AI secures its first acquisition with Koyeb

"Mistral AI announced its first acquisition today. The company will purchase serverless cloud provider Koyeb, also from France, aiming to enhance its compute infrastructure and support its growing portfolio of AI services. Koyeb provides a serverless platform designed to run and scale AI applications without requiring developers to manage the underlying infrastructure. The platform combines serverless efficiency with unified capabilities for running inference, executing AI-generated code securely, and powering AI-native applications such as APIs, MCP servers, and web services. Mistral AI will acquire Paris-based serverless provider Koyeb to strengthen compute infrastructure and support expanding AI services. The deal adds 13 employees, including Koyeb's three co-founders, who will join Mistral's engineering team in March 2026. Mistral is accelerating infrastructure investments and targets $1 billion in revenue for 2026, up from a $400 million run rate. Koyeb's serverless platform runs and scales AI applications without infrastructure management and unifies inference, secure execution of AI-generated code, and AI-native applications like APIs and MCP servers. The acquisition will improve on-prem model deployment, optimize GPU usage, support sandboxes and MCP servers, and help inference teams scale workloads.
