London prison escapee who mocked authorities with social media posts arrested in France
"Daniel Boakye, 21, escaped from police custody twice in one week last month. The wanted criminal could be seen in one of his videos sitting in the back of a car and holding an inflated balloon, boasting: 'Done it twice now they think I'm insane.'"
"Boakye was jailed for six years and five months in 2023 for being part of a robbery gang that held victims at knifepoint to get their phone passcodes in order to steal a total of 115,000 of cryptocurrency, as well as using bank details to pay for taxis and top-up cards."
"It is believed Boakye was smuggled out of the country in a lorry after he absconded while in police custody. Arrangements are now underway to return him to custody in the UK. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those who may have assisted Boakye to evade capture."
