Israel launches first air strike on Lebanon's Beirut since November truce
Briefly

An Israeli airstrike devastated a residential building in the Hadath neighborhood of Beirut, marking the first such attack since November's fragile truce with Hezbollah. The attack, which involved four strikes, left many families watching in horror as their home was destroyed and surrounding areas damaged. Israel claimed the target was a Hezbollah military drone facility, launched in response to recent rocket fire from Lebanon. Lebanese officials emphasize the need to identify those responsible for instability, while Israel asserts that peace is unachievable without addressing northern security concerns.
We are by the building attacked by Israel, and it is total destruction here, Al Jazeera's Ali Hashem reported. It is a residential block in which many families lived.
The Israeli military said the target was a Hezbollah military storage facility for drones. Israel launched the attack after rockets were fired from Lebanon towards Israeli territory.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam told the Lebanese army to quickly identify and arrest those responsible for the rocket fire, saying it threatens Lebanon's stability and security.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the Lebanese government bears direct responsibility for the rocket fire and, as long as there was no peace in northern Israel, there will be no peace in Beirut either.
