Clashes between football fans and police across France followed Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League final victory over Arsenal. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez reported 219 injuries, including eight in serious condition. Thousands of officers were deployed, and unrest disrupted bus, train, and rail services in Paris, where 57 officers were injured. Nunez said 780 people were arrested, with more than 450 held in custody. One death occurred after an accident on Paris’s ring road during overnight attempts by rioters to block it. For Sunday’s victory parade near the Eiffel Tower, 6,000 police were mobilized, and Nunez said security forces would be firm while allowing assembly but not excesses.
