Emmanuel Macron attended the World Economic Forum in Davos wearing aviator sunglasses because of a "completely harmless" eye condition. He apologized for the appearance of his eye, saying "Please pardon the unsightly appearance of my eye. It is, of course, something completely harmless." Macron addressed critical military challenges for France, including accelerated rearmament and continued support for Ukraine. He warned that the European Union should not yield to "the law of the strongest" and recommended preparedness to use an "anti-coercion instrument" against the United States, citing threats over Greenland tariffs. He said he does not plan to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos.
