France granted citizenship to George Clooney, Amal Clooney, and their 7-year-old twins, according to a French government bulletin. The Clooneys purchased an 18th-century estate in Provence in 2021 and have identified the property as their primary residence. Clooney said the family moved in part to shield their children from Hollywood culture, paparazzi and comparisons to other famous children. The French Foreign Ministry cited the actor's global clout and Amal Clooney's work with academic institutions and international organizations in France as grounds for eligibility under a law recognizing contributions to France's international influence and cultural outreach.
