France's far-right leader hit by egg, days after flour attack
"The more we make progress, the closer we get to power, the more the violence from the far left, intolerance and pure stupidity are unleashed,"
"But a wind of freedom, national pride and patriotism is blowing across France, and they won't be able to stop it,"
Jordan Bardella, leader of the far-right National Rally, was struck on the head with an egg during a book promotion event in Moissac, southwest France. A 74-year-old man broke the egg on Bardella's head and was arrested and taken into custody for violence against a public official, prosecutor Bruno Sauvage said. A complaint has been filed in Bardella's name. Earlier in the week Bardella was covered in flour at an agricultural fair in Vesoul; a 17-year-old was detained, later released, and will have to attend a citizenship course. Bardella said the incidents intensified as his party gained momentum and asserted that a wind of national pride and patriotism is sweeping France. The National Rally senses a strong chance in the 2027 presidential vote, with Marine Le Pen barred from running and Bardella a possible candidate.
