"The combination of high sea levels and strong waves is likely to cause flooding in exposed or vulnerable coastal areas, with a greater risk at high tide,"
Coastal departments in northern France — Finistère, Côtes-d'Armor and Manche in Brittany — are on flood alert for Friday night into Saturday morning. The Channel coast of Pas-de-Calais and Atlantic departments Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Charente-Maritime, Gironde, Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques carry yellow warnings for the same period. Low-pressure system Davide, north-west of Ireland, will produce high waves and strong gusts along the coast from Finistère to Cotentin. Coinciding particularly high tides increase the risk that combined high sea levels and strong waves will flood exposed coastal areas, with greatest danger at high tide. The rest of the country has no warnings, though rain is expected across the weekend.
