"The French civil aviation authority has reportedly asked airlines to reduce by 15 percent flights in an out of Paris' three airports (Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais), leading to some cancellations. Anyone with a flight is advised to contact their airline before travelling to the airport. Other arrivals into Paris were delayed because of the snow, although flights are still taking off and landing in Paris. A cyclist walks on the snow-blanketed Champs-de-Mars in Paris on January 5, 2026."
"The snowy conditions have also affected the roads, where the bad weather temporary speed limit of 80km/h has been applied, and there are reported long tailbacks in the Paris region as drivers try to leave work early. At 3.30pm traffic monitors reported 'exceptional' tailbacks, with 220km of traffic jams around the region. On the public transport network, some bus routes have been cancelled with buses called back to the depot in certain areas, although the transport operator RATP says that Metro services are running as normal."
"With freezing temperatures predicted overnight, travel is predicted to be especially difficult on Tuesday morning, with transport minister Philippe Tabarot warning people not to use their cars if possible. Road conditions are expected to be very difficult in the early morning with snow and ice - hundreds of transport agents and road police have been deployed. RATP says it will be running a select number of trains and above ground Metro lines all night, in order to avoid the line"
Snow began falling across Paris Monday afternoon under an orange alert for northern and western France, creating picturesque scenes alongside significant travel disruption. The civil aviation authority asked airlines to cut flights to and from Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais by 15 percent, prompting cancellations and advice for passengers to contact their airlines. Road speeds were temporarily limited to 80 km/h and commuters faced exceptional tailbacks totalling around 220 km. Some bus routes were cancelled and parts of the RER and Transilien suburban networks were disrupted, while Metro services continued. Authorities warned of very difficult conditions overnight and deployed hundreds of transport agents and road police.
