"Holy shit i did not know all that insane shit Ms. Bardot stood for obvs I do not condone this. very disappointing to learn."
""locomotive of women's history" and "the most liberated woman in post-war France.""
"Man is an insatiable predator,"
"I don't care about my past glory. That means nothing in the face of an animal that suffers, since it has no power, no words to defend itself."
Brigitte Bardot was born on Sept. 28, 1934, in Paris and gained early exposure by appearing on the cover of Elle at 14. She attained international fame in 1956 with And God Created Women, directed by Roger Vadim, and starred in nearly 50 films, becoming an emblem of post-war French cinema. Simone de Beauvoir praised her as a locomotive of women's history and the most liberated woman in post-war France. Bardot retired at 39 to focus on animal-rights activism, campaigning against seal slaughter, dolphin killings, horse meat consumption, hunting turtle doves, and animal testing, and receiving France's Legion of Honor in 1985. Later years saw her embrace far-right politics and associations that generated controversy.
