Americans in France: Are the French treating you differently as international tensions rise?
"Relations between the US and Europe - including France - are increasingly tense and French troops are now in Greenland after Donald Trump's threats to annexe the Danish territory - but are world events affecting the everyday lives of Americans in France? While we'd like to believe that everyone is capable of making the distinction between a citizen of a certain country and the actions of their government, that's not always the case."
"Americans living in France have no control over the actions of Trump - and in many cases are adamantly opposed to him. But are they being blamed anyway by their French neighbours, colleagues and acquaintances? We'd like to hear from Americans living in, or visiting, France to see if they feel attitudes towards them are changing due to the current political context. Please fill in our survey below, or click here to find the questionnaire."
Relations between the US and Europe, including France, are increasingly tense, and French troops are stationed in Greenland after Donald Trump's threats to annexe the Danish territory. World events and high-level tensions may be affecting everyday interactions for Americans living in France. Many Americans in France oppose Trump but have no control over his actions, creating concern that they might be unfairly blamed by neighbours, colleagues and acquaintances. A survey requests responses from Americans living in or visiting France to report whether they perceive changing attitudes due to the current political context and to collect first-hand experiences.
