This NYC Restaurant Is The Best In North America, New Ranking Says
"NEW YORK CITY - Atomix, the acclaimed Korean fine dining restaurant on 30th Street, has clinched the top spot on the inaugural North America's 50 Best Restaurants list, released Thursday night. Following Atomix, 12 other New York City restaurants made the list, including The Four Horsemen in Williamsburg, Le Veau d'Or on the Upper East Side, and more. The North America's 50 Best Restaurants list is decided by a 300-member Academy of chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, and gastronomes from eight regions across the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean."
"Each voter picks eight restaurants - at least three outside their own region - with voting kept strictly confidential and free from sponsor or restaurant influence. The North America list, celebrated Thursday night in Las Vegas, is the newest addition to the 50 Best organization's regional awards, which also highlight restaurants in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa."
"Atomix, from husband-and-wife team Chef Junghyun 'JP' Park and Ellia Park, will add this award to its long list of accolades, which includes two Michelin stars, a three-star review from The New York Times, and a James Beard Award for Outstanding Hospitality. What makes the restaurant a cut above the rest, the judges say, is its 12-course tasting menu of Korean-based plates, from teok-galbi (grilled short rib patty) with chocolate and chopi (Korean pepper) to halibut served with sea urchin and rice porridge. All the dishes come on bespoke ceramics accompanied by a card explaining the dish and its origins."
