"Last year, Martha's Kitchen provided 2.4 million meals to people in five California counties, working with a network of more than 60 partner groups. Executive Director Bill Lee says that when the new multi-use facility's kitchen is built out, it'll be able to produce 7 million meals a year. Let's hope the day that figure is required never arrives."
"Martha's Kitchen, which was founded in 1981, purchased the building at 749 Story Road for $7.5 million this summer and started serving meals there in September. Now that it's in the new facility, Martha's Kitchen is working to raise funds to cover the purchase as well as an additional $3 million to $5 million to design and construct the commercial kitchen."
Martha's Kitchen held a ribbon-cutting for a larger facility on Story Road after outgrowing its Willow Street headquarters. Last year the organization provided 2.4 million meals across five California counties through more than 60 partner groups. The nonprofit purchased 749 Story Road for $7.5 million and began serving there in September. Fundraising continues to cover the purchase and to secure an additional $3 million to $5 million to design and build a commercial kitchen. When built out, the kitchen could produce seven million meals annually. ConXion to Community sold the building and will lease back part of the space for 10 years. An additional 2,220-square-foot office is available for lease.
