Chick-fil-A marks its 80th anniversary with collectible cups
"The first cup became available on Monday, Jan. 5. It costs $3.99 at participating restaurants. It features a caricature of a rooster named Doodles, the Atlanta-based chain's first mascot. Doodles was replaced by cows that can't spell after Chick-fil-A launched its "Eat Mor Chikin" campaign in the mid-1990s. but a bird remains part of the chain's logo and packaging. The 32-ounce cups come with a lid, straw and a bookmark with Chick-fil-A trivia."
"New cups will drop every few weeks, according to the Chick-fil-A app. Upcoming designs feature the chain's 1967 logo; "Lemon Chicks" used to promote lemonade in the early 2000s; and cows with their "Eat Mor Chikin" signs. Cups are sold in anniversary bags. Chick-fil-A will be randomly distributing 3,000 "Golden Fan Cups" among the others, according to a news release. Customers who get one can redeem a prize of free Chick-fil-A for a year."
"Also, a line of plush cows to be sold exclusively in restaurants will be rolled out throughout the year, the news release said. Chick-fil-A added frosted sodas and floats to its menu on Monday. Frosted sodas feature the chain's fountain drinks blended with its ice cream soft serve. Floats are fountain drinks dispensed over soft serve. Choices include Coca-Cola flavors, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Hi-C and Barq's Root Beer."
