"I inherited this technique from my hometown, along with my family's traditions,"
"With Clase Azul, we created this collection inspired by our culture."
Tonalá, near Guadalajara in Jalisco, preserves the barro bruñido burnished-clay pottery tradition. Master artisan Ángel Ortiz Gabriel learned pottery from his grandparents and incorporates daily life, folklore and nature into award-winning designs. Clase Azul collaborated with Ortiz for the fourth Master Artisans limited-edition release, producing 100 sets of three handcrafted decanters housing aged tequila. The tequilas were crafted by master distiller Viridiana Tinoco, aged in American whiskey casks and finished in Premier Cru Supérieur Sauternes wine casks from Bordeaux. Each decanter in the trio tells its own visual story and celebrates local craft and heritage.
