9 London pizzas have been named the best in Britain
"There's the Korean-inspired 'Seoul Mate' from west London's Base Face Pizza, which features gochujang cream sauce, mozzarella, roasted corn, kimchi, spring onions and honey and 'With A Little H(ELP) From My Friends' from Hackney's Bing Bong Pizza, which sports chilli and fennel sausage, pickled peppers, potatoes and kale. 's collaborative pizza with Brooklyn Brewery, celebrating its new store in Finsbury Park last year, also made the cut. Titled 'Bright Young Thing', the special was topped with vodka sauce, chorizo, parmesan, chilli flakes, and fresh basil."
"The rest of this year's London entries include the deep dish pies from Little Earthquakes at the Railway Tavern, the Chicago thin crusts at Short Road Pizza and the New York/Neapolitan hybrid slices at ACE Pizza - all of which feature on Time Out's list of the greatest pizzerias in London. Chains in the capital like Zia Lucia, Mamma Dough and Super Club Roma (a new opening from Franco Manca at Westfield Stratford) are also in the running."
"Other pizzerias on the shortlist include national chains Franco Manca, Zizzi and Pizza Pilgrims, and independents from Brighton, Glasgow and Stockport. All the finalists will face each other in a live cooking showdown at Walthamstow's Big Penny Social on November 4. There'll be a signature round to determine the Pizza of the Year, as well as a technical challenge to decide the Pizza Chef of the Year."
