Items were evaluated primarily on taste, with preference given to foods desirable for morning consumption and also suitable for afternoon or nighttime. Sonic's all-day breakfast policy preserves retro drive-in charm and provides convenience compared with chains that limit morning menus. The standard black coffee placed last, described as tasting like ordinary drip coffee, and Sonic sources its coffee from Green Mountain. Menu items were ranked from least to most favorite based on those criteria.
