""We are thrilled to enter into a multifaceted global partnership with YouTube to be the future home of the Oscars and our year-round Academy programming," said Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor in a joint statement. "The Academy is an international organization, and this partnership will allow us to expand access to the work of the Academy to the largest worldwide audience possible-which will be beneficial for our Academy members and the film community.""
""The Oscars are one of our essential cultural institutions, honoring excellence in storytelling and artistry," Mohan said."
A multiyear deal grants YouTube exclusive global streaming rights to the Oscars from 2029 through 2033, ending ABC's partnership that began in 1976. The move aims to expand the ceremony's international reach as traditional broadcast viewership has declined from a 1998 peak of 55 million to 19.7 million in 2025. YouTube will stream the ceremony live and free worldwide, and to YouTube TV subscribers in the United States. The platform will provide closed captioning and multilingual audio tracks. YouTube's global audience of more than two billion viewers and a higher bid than traditional broadcasters drove the change.
