Wicked For Good's Dorothy unveiled - and why audiences don't see her face
""I didn't want to step on who you think Dorothy is in whatever story that you came into this with," he said."
""[This] is still Elphaba and Glinda's journey, and she is a pawn in the middle of all of it," Chu continued."
""As far as I know, this was always meant to be a two-movie experience," he told Access Hollywood."
The film continues after last year’s hit, with Elphaba branded Oz’s greatest enemy and navigating turbulent relationships with Glinda and Fiyero. Dorothy appears briefly in the new film, her face never fully visible, including a shot showing her profile through a crack in a door. Dorothy follows the yellow brick road and meets Glinda in Oz. Director Jon M. Chu said he concealed Dorothy’s face to avoid imposing a single interpretation of the character. Bethany Weaver portrays Dorothy and shared behind-the-scenes images with Toto and co-stars. Chu described the project as intended as a two-movie experience and suggested it could mark an end of an era.
