"The local communities were so welcoming, some even joined as extras. For the exterior of Mr. Sood's home, we found the perfect house, though the couple living there needed a little convincing. After chatting with their children, they happily agreed. It turned out they were huge fans of Bend It Like Beckham and Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging - a lovely surprise that made the whole experience feel like a blessing,"
"We also filmed in Kenya, which was deeply personal for me. Our character's backstory is rooted in Uganda, and shooting in Africa allowed me to honour that heritage and my own. My father was born in Kenya and always longed for its landscapes, so capturing those breathtaking scenes felt like a tribute to him. We filmed by a stunning lake that, I later learned, was the same location used for Out of Africa."
Filming honored Dickensian London through locations such as Clerkenwell for Scrooge's home, Camden's Kelly Street for the Cratchit family, and Primrose Hill. Local residents welcomed the production, joined as extras, and agreed to exterior shoots after conversations with the homeowners' children. Some locals surprised the crew by revealing fandom for earlier British films. Kenya locations reflected the character's Uganda-rooted backstory and the director's personal heritage; scenes filmed by a notable lake echoed Out of Africa. The production features an ensemble cast including Hugh Bonneville, Charithra Chandran, Danny Dyer, Leo Suter, Pixie Lott, Eva Longoria, Billy Porter and Boy George.
