Will Arnett portrays Alex Novak, a man facing a marriage in crisis with his wife Tess, played by Laura Dern. The story follows Alex as he discovers stand-up comedy amid personal upheaval. The film draws inspiration from British comedian John Bishop's anecdote about signing up for stand-up to avoid a bar cover charge. Tess experiences the feeling of being stuck in an unplanned life and recognizes a need for change. Bradley Cooper frames the film around characters reckoning with identity, goals, curiosities, relationships, and the new communities they form. The film is currently in theaters.
