Timothée Chalamet stars as Marty Mauser, a scrappy young aspiring table tennis pro who overcomes naysayers to pursue a career in the sport. Marty Supreme opens in theaters on Christmas. Director and co-writer Josh Safdie encouraged Chalamet to draw on his past modding and YouTube experience to access the character's hustler swagger. Chalamet ran a small 2010 YouTube channel called ModdedController360 where he painted and customized Xbox 360 controllers. Some saved videos show his work, including a controller with a "sexy" red tiger paint job. The film’s character is loosely based on a real table tennis pro.
