Timothée Chalamet insisted on performing his own spanking scene in Marty Supreme rather than using a butt-double. The character Marty Mauser accepts an offer to play in the World Championships that requires a humiliating public paddling at a New York party. Kevin O'Leary portrays Milton Rockwell, the man who delivers the paddling. A fake paddle designed to soften the blows broke on the first hit, forcing a real paddle to be used. Director Josh Safdie shot around 40 takes and filming of the sequence extended until 4am. The paddling functions as a pivotal humiliation and comeuppance for the protagonist.
