"Frameline50 will take place June 17 to 21 and June 25 to 27, 2026, marking a major homecoming for one of San Francisco's most iconic festivals. Founded in 1977, Frameline (originally The San Francisco International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival) is the longest running, largest, and most widely recognized LGBTQ+ film festival in the world. With more than 60,000 annual attendees, the festival remains one of the Bay Area's biggest and most beloved arts events."
The Castro Theatre will resume film programming in 2026 after a two-year break and will host screenings and film festivals including events from S F Silent Film Festival, MOViES FOR MANiACS, and SFFILM. Early 2026 highlights include A Deeper Love: The Story of Miss Peppermint with Peppermint, The Last Black Man in San Francisco with Joe Talbot, and Hedwig & The Angry Inch (25th Anniversary in 35mm) with John Cameron Mitchell performing live. Tickets for these screenings go on sale November 14, 2025 at 10 am. The full movie calendar returns in February with repertory classics, singalongs, 35/70mm screenings, and student and senior pricing. Frameline50 returns to The Castro in June 2026 for its 50th anniversary, continuing Frameline's legacy as the world's longest-running and largest LGBTQ+ film festival with more than 60,000 annual attendees.
