Taylor Swift seemingly took control of every corner of pop culture last week with the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, and its corresponding Release Party film event."
"The big headline is the second weekend of One Battle After Another absolutely stomping Dwayne Johnson and The Smashing Machine. After opening at No. 1 last week, One Battle picked up another $11 million over the weekend to finish in second place at the box office, pushing its to-date cumulative total to $42 million. That more than clears the $25 million threshold, good for an extra ten points."
Taylor Swift released The Life of a Showgirl alongside the Release Party film event, which opened to $33 million and finished No. 1 at the weekend box office. The Eras Tour opened to $93 million two years earlier and was a highly produced concert film; Release Party consisted largely of lyric music videos. The Movies Fantasy League did not add Release Party midseason and declined to award the usual 20 bonus points for the weekend winner; those points are not rolled over. One Battle After Another earned another $11 million, bringing its cumulative total to $42 million and clearing the $25 million threshold for an extra ten fantasy points.
