"Back in the '90s, Aeon Flux helped MTV establish itself as more than just a hub for music videos. The animated series became a cult-classic thanks to its groundbreaking animation and surreal sci-fi story. The show then saw a live-action film adaptation starring Charlize Theron in 2005. While the film doesn't quite match the bar of quality set by the animated series, Aeon Flux is still a rock-solid sci-fi movie--and for its upcoming 20th anniversary, it's finally coming to 4K Blu-ray with a new steelbook"
"Set in the distant future, Aeon Flux takes place in a world that is still reeling from a deadly virus that killed 99% percent of the human race. In the centuries since the outbreak, survivors established the walled city of Bregna, which is governed by congress of scientists led by Trevor Goodchild. A mysterious faction hires telepathic warrior Aeon Flux (Theron) to assassinate Goodchild. However, soon into her mission, Aeon finds herself investigating a tangled conspiracy hiding Bregna City's true nature."
"Aeon Flux As mentioned above, the live-action Aeon Flux movie pales in comparison to its animated source material--and if you want to check out the original series, you can grab the Aeon Flux: The Complete Animated Series Collection Director's Cut on DVD for $13.51 (was $17) at Amazon. Along with all episodes of the show, this DVD set includes bonus materials like a commentary track from series creator Peter Chung, featurettes, production art, and several TV shorts."
Aeon Flux's 2005 live-action film starring Charlize Theron is receiving a 20th Anniversary Steelbook 4K Blu-ray; preorders cost $34 for an October 7 release. The film takes place after a virus kills 99% of humanity; survivors form the walled city of Bregna governed by scientists led by Trevor Goodchild. Telepathic assassin Aeon Flux is hired to kill Goodchild and uncovers a conspiracy about the city's true nature. The live-action movie is considered inferior to the original animated series. The Complete Animated Series Director's Cut DVD includes commentaries, featurettes, production art, and TV shorts. Several other legacy films will get special edition 4K releases later this year.
