Gareth Edwards, director of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' realized a childhood dream by collaborating with iconic director Steven Spielberg. After gaining fame with 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,' he focused on original projects, producing 'The Creator,' which features a plot on AI. In 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' Edwards continues the legacy of the franchise, set decades after 'Jurassic World Dominion,' with Scarlett Johansson leading a team in a quest for genetic materials. Edwards expresses excitement at the opportunity to work with Spielberg, noting several nods to his iconic films in this latest installment.
"I hate the word IP, but there are only two franchises I would absolutely drop everything for and just do them. I already did one of them with 'Star Wars,' and this was the other one," Edwards said. "So when Steven gives you this script, you're just checkmated immediately."
Gareth Edwards found success first with 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,' regarded as one of the best entries in the franchise, despite his disagreement with that assessment. He later created 'The Creator,' an original film featuring John David Washington.
